A good rule of thumb is to have your child read a page aloud and if they miss 0-1 words that book might be too easy for them, 2-3 means it should be just right, 4 means it is okay to try and 5 means that it is too hard for them to read on their own.
There are a range of levels per grade but each child develops at their own rate. Please measure your child by their own growth rate and not others. Every child grows at a different rate and if you want to talk more about this I am happy to chat more with you individually about your child's growth.
